We Came as Romans are an American metalcore band from Troy, Michigan, formed in 2005. Over the years, the band has undergone a name change and multiple line-up changes, shaping a sound that blends aggressive metalcore riffs with melodic, anthemic choruses. In 2016, they signed to SharpTone Records, having previously released music on Equal Vision Records since 2009.
Known for combining heavy, technical guitar work with soaring clean vocals, We Came as Romans create music that balances intensity and accessibility. Their lyrics often focus on hope, resilience, and personal struggle, giving their metalcore a melodic, emotionally resonant edge. This approach has helped the band cultivate a dedicated fanbase, both in the United States and internationally.

Tragically, longtime clean vocalist Kyle Pavone passed away on August 25, 2018, at the age of 28. The band later confirmed his cause of death as an accidental drug overdose and announced the creation of a foundation in his honour. On September 11, 2018, Dave Stephens stated that the band would not replace Kyle, but would continue touring with Bullet for My Valentine and Bad Omens, honouring Pavone and raising awareness for his foundation.
