Bleeding Through are an American metalcore band formed in Woodlake, California in 1999 by vocalist Brandan Schieppati following his departure from Throwdown. Blending Metalcore, Hardcore punk and melodic Death metal influences, the band became one of the defining names of the early-2000s American metal scene through their aggressive sound, dark atmosphere and emotionally charged songwriting.
Unlike many metalcore bands of the era, Bleeding Through incorporated prominent keyboards and symphonic textures into their music, helping create a distinctive balance between brutality and melody. Their sound combines blast beats, breakdown-heavy riffing and hardcore intensity with melodic guitar leads and dramatic electronic layers inspired in part by Swedish melodic death metal.
Early releases such as Dust to Ashes (2001) and Portrait of the Goddess (2002) established Bleeding Through within the underground metalcore and hardcore scenes, while This Is Love, This Is Murderous (2003) significantly expanded their audience through a heavier and more refined approach.
Albums including The Truth (2006) and Declaration (2008) further developed the band’s signature style, balancing technical aggression with dark melodic atmosphere and introspective lyrical themes. Tracks such as Love Lost in a Hail of Gun Fire, Kill to Believe and On Wings of Lead became staples of the band’s catalogue and helped solidify their reputation within modern metalcore.
