Blackmore's Night is a British American neo medieval folk rock band formed in 1997. At the centre of it are Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night, and they are the only two constant members across all the lineup changes. The music leans into old world melody and atmosphere, with plenty of acoustic colour and a strong sense of story.
What makes the band special is how they blend eras without it feeling like a costume. You get Renaissance and folk flavours, then the occasional flash of rock guitar when the song needs lift. Over time they have built a deep catalogue of studio albums, and the tone stays consistent even when the arrangements shift.
If you want the classic entry point, Shadow of the Moon and Under a Violet Moon are the usual gateways. They are packed with the band’s signature mix of romance, mood, and big choruses that still feel warm rather than shiny.
