Hatebreed are an American band formed in 1994 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Renowned for their fusion of Hardcore punk, Metalcore, and Groove metal, they have become one of the most influential acts in modern heavy music. Their sound combines crushing riffs, pummelling rhythms, and anthemic songwriting with an unmistakable sense of power and resilience.
Driven by themes of perseverance, self-determination, and personal strength, Hatebreed have built a loyal global following through their relentless intensity both on record and on stage.
Founded by vocalist Jamey Jasta, Hatebreed's original line-up also featured bassist Chris Beattie, drummer Dave Russo, and guitarists Larry Dwyer Jr. and Wayne Lozinak. This five-piece began by recording a three-song demo in 1995, selling it locally before those tracks were later released the same year on a split 7-inch with New York hardcore band Neglect.
Emerging from the American hardcore scene in the mid-1990s, Hatebreed quickly distinguished themselves through a heavier, more metallic approach. Their blend of hardcore aggression and metal precision helped define the evolving metalcore movement, influencing countless bands that followed.
With landmark releases such as Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire, Perseverance, and The Rise of Brutality, Hatebreed established themselves as leaders of modern heavy music, balancing uncompromising intensity with memorable, empowering songwriting.
