Alexisonfire (pronounced “Alexis on Fire”) are a Canadian Post-hardcore band formed in St. Catharines, Ontario in 2001. The band’s members are George Pettit (vocals), Dallas Green (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards), Wade MacNeil (lead guitar, vocals), Chris Steele (bass) and Jordan Hastings (drums, percussion). The lineup has been largely unchanged since 2001, aside from Jordan Hastings, who joined in 2005. Alexisonfire have won numerous awards, and in Canada their albums have all been certified either gold or platinum.
Known for their distinctive dual-vocal approach and emotionally charged songwriting, Alexisonfire built a sound that blends melodic post-hardcore, punk urgency and heavy dynamics influenced by Metalcore, resulting in explosive and layered intensity.
Their music is defined by the contrast between soaring melodic vocals and raw, shouted delivery, layered over intricate guitar work and shifting song structures. This balance of beauty and aggression helped the band stand apart within the early-2000s hardcore, post-hardcore and metalcore scenes.
Early releases such as Alexisonfire (2002) and Watch Out! (2004) established their reputation for intensity and emotional depth, combining melodic passages with chaotic, high-energy breakdowns. Their breakthrough came with Crisis (2006), which refined their sound and brought wider international attention.
Later releases, including Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009) and Otherness (2022), showcased a more mature, expansive approach while retaining the band’s core emotional weight and dynamic intensity. After initially disbanding in 2011, Alexisonfire later reunited, continuing to perform and release music to strong critical and fan reception.
