Ice-T – Official Music & Merch

Tracy Lauren Marrow, better known by his stage name Ice-T, is an American rapper, songwriter, actor, and producer. A true pioneer of hip-hop, Ice-T helped shape the sound and attitude of gangsta rap in the 1980s and early 1990s. Known for his sharp lyricism, social commentary, and raw depictions of street life, Ice-T remains one of the most influential figures in both music and popular culture.

About Ice-T

Born in Newark, New Jersey and raised in Los Angeles, Ice-T began his career as an underground rapper before signing to Sire Records in 1987, where he released his groundbreaking debut album, Rhyme Pays. The record was among the first hip-hop albums to carry a Parental Advisory label, setting the tone for his fearless and unapologetic approach to music.

His follow-up album, Power (1988), went platinum, showcasing Ice-T’s blend of hard-hitting beats, politically charged lyrics, and vivid storytelling. Over the years, he released several gold-certified albums, including The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech...Just Watch What You Say! (1989) and O.G. Original Gangster (1991) — the latter widely regarded as one of the cornerstones of the gangsta rap movement.

Beyond his solo work, Ice-T also gained fame as the frontman of Body Count, the heavy metal band he formed in 1990. Their controversial track “Cop Killer” sparked national debate, solidifying Ice-T’s reputation as an artist unafraid to challenge authority and push boundaries.

Ice-T Discography

Across his prolific career, Ice-T has released a series of influential albums that have helped define the evolution of hip-hop:

  • Rhyme Pays (1987)

  • Power (1988)

  • The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech...Just Watch What You Say! (1989)

  • O.G. Original Gangster (1991)

  • Home Invasion (1993)

  • VI: Return of the Real (1996)

  • The Seventh Deadly Sin (1999)

His legacy extends far beyond music — from his acting career (notably as Detective Odafin “Fin” Tutuola in Law & Order: SVU) to his impact as a cultural icon who continues to influence new generations of artists.
