Malevolence are an English band formed in 2010 in Sheffield, renowned for their crushing blend of Metalcore, Hardcore Punk, and Groove Metal. Combining punishing riffs, hardcore aggression, and anthemic songwriting, they have emerged as one of the leading forces in contemporary British heavy music.
Their sound balances sheer heaviness with memorable hooks, drawing equally from metallic precision, hardcore intensity, and groove-driven power.
Formed in Sheffield’s thriving heavy music scene, Malevolence quickly built a reputation through relentless touring, ferocious live performances, and a strong DIY ethos. Guitarists Josh Baines and Konan Hall first bonded over a shared love of heavy metal while attending primary school in Sheffield, and began performing live together at just twelve years old.
Malevolence officially formed in 2010 when vocalist Alex Taylor joined the line-up. The band released their first demo the following year, laying the foundations for the crushing, groove-driven sound that would soon establish them as one of the UK’s most exciting modern metal acts.
Their early releases established their uncompromising style, but it was through albums such as Reign of Suffering, Self Supremacy, and Malicious Intent that Malevolence cemented their status as one of the UK’s premier modern metal acts.
Malevolence seamlessly blend crushing breakdowns, groove-laden riffing, and melodic flourishes, creating a sound that appeals to fans across hardcore and metal communities alike. Their music often explores themes of perseverance, struggle, loyalty, and self-belief, delivered with raw conviction and emotional intensity.
