Savatage are an American heavy metal band formed in Tarpon Springs, Florida in 1979 by brothers Jon and Criss Oliva. They are widely regarded as one of the most innovative bands in heavy metal, known for combining traditional metal with progressive structures and symphonic elements.
Over time, Savatage evolved from a raw power metal act into a highly sophisticated, theatrical band whose work helped lay the foundation for modern symphonic and progressive metal.
