After a decade working as a session guitarist in Los Angeles, Buckley began performing in the early 1990s at intimate East Village venues in Manhattan, including Sin-é, where he gained recognition for his captivating cover performances and gradually introduced his own original material.
About Jeffrey Buckley
Despite early interest from record labels and Herb Cohen—the manager of his father, singer Tim Buckley—Jeffrey initially rebuffed offers, preferring to refine his unique sound. He eventually signed with Columbia Records, assembled a band, and recorded what would become his only studio album, Grace, in 1994. Widely acclaimed, Grace features a blend of rock, folk, jazz, and soul influences, showcasing Buckley’s extraordinary vocal range and emotional depth. Tracks like “Last Goodbye” and “Hallelujah” have become timeless classics, cementing his legacy as one of the most influential voices of his generation.
Though Buckley tragically passed away in 1997, his music continues to inspire artists and fans worldwide. Posthumous releases, live recordings, and compilations have further showcased his artistry, ensuring that his impact on modern music remains profound.
