My wardrobe moves somewhere between grunge, goth, vintage and colourful maximalism. Think band and graphic tees mixed with flowing skirts, wide-leg trousers, statement belts, chunky boots, jewellery, hats, layers and probably more colour and print than strictly necessary.
I’ve never been interested in sticking to one particular aesthetic. For me, alternative style is about taking the music, films, characters and things you love, mixing them together and wearing them your own way.

Alternative fashion has never really belonged to a single look. It can be dark and understated one day, loud and colourful the next, or somewhere comfortably in between. That freedom to mix different influences is a big part of what makes it interesting.
This collection brings together some of our creator's favourite picks from across Eyesore Merch, drawing on music, horror, cult cinema, science fiction, television and pop culture. Band shirts and graphic tees might be the starting point, but the idea is not necessarily to recreate a particular scene or era. It is about finding pieces you connect with and making them work as part of your own wardrobe.
Musically, that means everything from the heavy end of things with Black Sabbath, Korn, Rammstein and Slayer, through alternative favourites including Deftones, Garbage, Hole, Placebo and The Smashing Pumpkins.
There is plenty beyond rock and metal too. Artists such as Amy Winehouse, Kate Bush, Lana Del Rey, Madonna, Shania Twain and Stevie Nicks fit just as comfortably alongside goth, grunge and alternative influences when the aim is simply to build an outfit around the things you genuinely like.
The same applies to film and entertainment. Horror classics such as Alien, Beetlejuice, Hellraiser, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Psycho and The Shining sit alongside cult favourites including Labyrinth, Back to the Future and Monty Python, plus science-fiction and television staples such as Star Wars, Stranger Things, Rick and Morty and The Terminator.
That mix is really the point. A vintage-inspired skirt does not have to be paired with a vintage band. A horror T-shirt does not have to stay within an all-black wardrobe. A metal shirt can work with bright colours, jewellery, oversized layers or something completely unexpected. There are no particularly useful rules here.
