Dr. Feelgood are an English pub rock band formed in Canvey Island, Essex, in 1971. Known for their high-energy performances, raw rhythm and blues sound, and gritty lyrics, the band became one of the most influential acts of the 1970s pub rock scene, laying the groundwork for punk and alternative rock in the UK.
Formed by Lee Brilleaux (vocals, harmonica, guitar), Wilko Johnson (guitar, vocals), The Big Figure (drums), and John B. Sparks (bass), Dr. Feelgood became renowned for their stripped-back, no-frills approach to rhythm and blues.
The current lineup features Phil H. Mitchell (bass, acoustic guitar, backing vocals), Gordon Russell (guitar, backing vocals), Kevin Morris (drums, percussion, backing vocals), and Robert Kane (lead vocals, harmonica), carrying forward the band’s legacy of explosive live shows and their signature mix of blues, rock, and R&B.
