D.R.I. (Dirty Rotten Imbeciles) are an American crossover thrash band formed in Houston, Texas in 1982. They are widely regarded as one of the foundational bands of the crossover thrash movement, bridging the gap between hardcore punk and thrash metal.
Known for their extremely short, fast songs and relentless energy, D.R.I. helped define the blueprint for crossover aggression in the 1980s underground scene.
D.R.I.’s sound is defined by ultra-fast hardcore punk roots combined with increasingly metallic thrash elements. Their early material is extremely short and aggressive, later evolving into more structured thrash compositions.
