Neaera are a German melodic death metal band from Münster, formed in 2003. Combining the aggression of metalcore with the technical precision and melody of Swedish melodic death metal, the band quickly established themselves as one of Europe's leading modern extreme metal acts. Their emotionally charged lyrics, intricate guitar work, and relentless live performances have earned them a dedicated international following.
In April 2004, following an earlier incarnation as The Ninth Gate, the band adopted the name Neaera as they signed to Metal Blade Records, marking a defining moment in their career. The current line-up features Benjamin Hilleke (lead vocals), Stefan Keller (guitar), Tobias Buck (guitar), Benjamin Donath (bass), and Sebastian Heldt (drums). Following a hiatus between 2015 and 2022, Neaera returned with renewed energy, continuing to build on the powerful sound that made them one of Germany's standout metal bands.
Neaera combine melodic death metal, metalcore, and thrash metal into a powerful blend of technical precision and emotional intensity. All Is Dust (2024) – latest studio album building on the band's successful return, delivering crushing riffs, soaring melodies, and the uncompromising sound that has defined Neaera throughout their career.
