Poison the Well are a cornerstone metalcore band out of the Miami, Florida scene, first active from 1997 to 2010. Their early run helped set the template for heavy/soft dynamics done properly — hardcore bite, melodic turns, and the kind of emotional punch that loads of later bands borrowed from. Lead guitarist Ryan Primack and drummer Chris Hornbrook are the remaining founding members, with vocalist Jeffrey Moreira appearing across all five studio albums.
If you’re working backwards through metalcore history, the studio run is the main story: The Opposite of December… A Season of Separation (1999) and Tear From the Red (2002) are the early staples, followed by You Come Before You (2003), Versions (2007) and The Tropic Rot (2009).
