Alter Bridge are an American rock band formed in Orlando, Florida in 2004 by vocalist and guitarist Myles Kennedy, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips. Tremonti, Marshall and Phillips had previously played together in Creed, while Kennedy joined as the band's vocalist. The line-up has remained consistent throughout their career, combining Kennedy's powerful vocals with Tremonti's distinctive guitar work and the rhythm section of Marshall and Phillips.
Known for blending hard rock, alternative metal and melodic songwriting, they have built a reputation for powerful guitar riffs, soaring vocals and expansive arrangements. Their music balances heavier elements with memorable melodies, creating a sound that has appealed to fans of modern rock and metal alike.
Following Creed's period of inactivity, Tremonti, Marshall and Phillips began working on a new project and recruited Myles Kennedy as vocalist. The four musicians formed Alter Bridge in 2004, releasing their debut album, One Day Remains, later that year.
The line-up has remained consistent throughout the band's career, with Kennedy and Tremonti sharing guitar duties alongside Marshall and Phillips. Their sound developed across successive releases, combining heavy riffs, melodic guitar work and Kennedy's powerful vocals while allowing the band to explore both heavier and more expansive styles.
After Pawns & Kings in 2022, the group returned with their self-titled eighth studio album, Alter Bridge, released on 9 January 2026. The record marked their latest chapter while retaining the core line-up that has defined the band since its formation.
