Less Than Jake are an American ska punk band from Gainesville, Florida, formed in 1992. Known for their high-energy sound, infectious horn section, and unmatched sense of fun, Less Than Jake have been at the heart of the ska punk scene for over three decades. Blending punk urgency with brass-driven melodies and tongue-in-cheek humour, they’ve built one of the most loyal fanbases in modern punk.
The band’s current lineup features Chris DeMakes (guitar, vocals), Roger Lima (bass, vocals), Buddy Schaub (trombone), Peter “JR” Wasilewski (saxophone), and Matt Yonker (drums).
After forming in Gainesville’s thriving DIY punk scene, Less Than Jake burst onto the stage with their debut album Pezcore (1995) — a cult classic packed with fast riffs, catchy choruses, and plenty of ska swagger. The album’s success led to a major label deal and a string of beloved releases including Losing Streak (1996), Hello Rockview (1998), and Anthem (2003), cementing their reputation as one of the genre’s defining acts.
