Nocturnus were an American death metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1987. Widely regarded as one of the most innovative early death metal bands, Nocturnus are known for being the first major band to incorporate keyboards and science fiction themes into extreme metal in a fully integrated way.
Their unique combination of technical death metal, atmospheric keyboards, and sci-fi concept storytelling helped them stand apart from the early Florida death metal scene.
