Astroid Boys are a Welsh rap and hardcore collective from Cardiff, formed in 2012. Combining grime, Rap, punk, hardcore and heavy guitar-driven sounds, the group created an aggressive and unconventional style that reflected the diverse musical culture of their home city.
Built around MCs Phillip 'Traxx' Davies and Benjamin 'Benji Wild' Kendell, alongside producer Elliot 'Dellux' Brussalis, DJ Ricardo "DJ Comfort" Banks and drummer Harry 'Big H' Williams, Astroid Boys brought together grime flows, bass-heavy production, punk attitude and mosh-ready riffs. Their music was energetic, confrontational and deeply connected to Cardiff, while their DIY approach helped them build a following across the UK's alternative music scene.
Astroid Boys began when Traxx set out to combine his background in punk with his growing interest in grime. After bringing in DJ Comfort and Dellux, the project developed through Cardiff's hip hop and live music scenes before Benji Wild joined as a co-frontman. The addition of Big H and a heavier instrumental approach transformed the project into a full live collective, blending rap with punk and metal influences.
The group's early work included the Bacon Dream EP in 2013 and CF10 EP in 2015, the latter taking its name from the Cardiff postcode. Their energetic performances helped them move beyond the local scene, with appearances at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds and other major festivals. In 2016, Astroid Boys signed with Music for Nations and continued building momentum ahead of their debut album.
Their first full-length album, Broke, arrived in September 2017 through Music for Nations, combining grime production, punk aggression and heavy guitar work across tracks including “Dirt”, “Mask”, “Ghost” and “Foreigners”. The group subsequently toured with Enter Shikari and continued performing into 2018, but after several key members departed, Astroid Boys announced an indefinite hiatus in January 2019.
