City of Caterpillar are an American post-hardcore band formed in Richmond, Virginia in 2000. Emerging from the influential Virginia underground scene, the band became renowned for their unique fusion of emotional hardcore, post-rock atmosphere, chaotic screamo intensity, and expansive songwriting.
Although their initial existence was relatively brief, City of Caterpillar developed a near-legendary status within underground punk and hardcore circles. Their influence continued to grow long after their original breakup, culminating in a celebrated reunion and new recordings decades later.
City of Caterpillar’s sound combines emotionally charged screamo, post-hardcore aggression, post-rock dynamics, and atmospheric instrumental passages.
