Dag Nasty were an American melodic hardcore band formed in Washington, D.C. in 1985 by guitarist Brian Baker following his departure from Minor Threat. Alongside vocalist Shawn Brown, bassist Roger Marbury, and drummer Colin Sears, the band became one of the most important and influential acts in the evolution of melodic hardcore and emotional punk.
Emerging from the legendary D.C. hardcore scene, Dag Nasty helped pioneer a more melodic and introspective approach to hardcore punk, laying crucial groundwork for later generations of punk, post-hardcore, and emo bands.
