Indian were an American Sludge/Doom metal and Noise band from Chicago, Illinois, USA, known for their punishing riffs, chaotic arrangements, and experimental approach to heavy music. Their sound blended crushing sludge heaviness with doom-laden atmospheres and noise-driven textures, earning them a dedicated following in the underground metal scene.
Indian formed in 2003, emerging from Chicago’s vibrant underground metal scene with a unique combination of heaviness and experimental noise. Over nearly two decades, the band developed a reputation for intense, unpredictable live performances and uncompromising recordings that challenged traditional boundaries of sludge and doom.
The last known lineup included Ron DeFries on bass, Dylan O'Toole on vocals and guitars, and Will Lindsay on vocals and guitars. Together, they delivered a ferocious and chaotic sound that defined the band’s legacy.
After years of touring and recording, Indian disbanded in 2022, leaving behind a significant mark on the sludge/doom and noise underground with their innovative approach to extreme metal.
