Lynch Mob were formed in 1989 by legendary guitarist George Lynch and drummer Mick Brown, following creative differences that led to the breakup of their previous hard rock powerhouse, Dokken. With Lynch already established as one of the most distinctive guitarists of the 1980s, the new band quickly became a standout act within the rising hard rock and glam metal scene. After early momentum in Germany, the group relocated to Los Angeles just as MTV and the Sunset Strip scene—home to contemporaries like Ratt and Mötley Crüe—were exploding in popularity.
Lynch Mob made an immediate impact with their acclaimed 1990 debut album Wicked Sensation, a record that cemented George Lynch’s reputation as a guitar icon and showcased a grittier, blues-infused twist on the glam metal sound dominating the era. Their follow-up self-titled album in 1992 continued to demonstrate their versatility, blending melodic hard rock with powerful vocals and signature guitar work.
Although the band initially split after these early releases, Lynch Mob reunited multiple times across the years, delivering new material and live performances that strengthened their legacy. With a revolving line-up centred around George Lynch’s unmistakable playing, the group remain a respected name in the worlds of hard rock, melodic metal and guitar-driven music.
