Shy, Low are an American instrumental post-rock band from Richmond, Virginia, formed in 2011. Known for their expansive compositions, atmospheric guitar work, powerful dynamics, and cinematic sense of scale, the band have developed a distinctive sound that moves between post-rock, post-metal, ambient music, and heavier alternative influences.
Across releases including their self-titled debut, Binary Opposition, Hiraeth, Burning Day, Snake Behind the Sun, and Babylonica, Shy, Low have continually refined their approach to instrumental music. Their latest studio album, Purity Spiral, is due in 2026 and continues the band's exploration of atmosphere, tension, melody, and immense post-rock crescendos.
