The Solitude is a Finnish doom metal band with a storied past and a fresh new start. Initially formed around 30 years ago, the band quietly vanished before leaving a lasting mark—until 2023, when they returned with renewed energy, a new lineup, and a commitment to classic doom metal sounds inspired by Candlemass and Black Sabbath.
About The Solitude
The current lineup consists of Mika Karppinen on guitar, Aleksi Parviainen on vocals (Soulcage, Malpractice), Ville Pelkonen on bass (ex-Jimsonweed), and Janne Parviainen on drums (Ensiferum). This reformed quartet brings decades of experience from respected Finnish acts, delivering a sound that balances doom’s crushing heaviness with melodic flair.
Drummer and guitarist interviews reveal a band eager to pay tribute to their influences while forging their own identity. The Solitude is set to release their debut full-length album, The Sound of Absent Life, on April 3, 2026, recorded at Finnvox Studios to capture the raw energy and urgency that defines the band.
