TÖRZS are a Hungarian instrumental post-rock band from Budapest, known for expansive compositions that blend atmospheric guitars, immersive textures and carefully shaped dynamics. Formed in 2014l, the band have developed a distinctive sound that places mood, space and atmosphere firmly at the centre of their music.
Their approach to post-rock is deeply connected to the spaces in which they perform and record. From caves and forests to unusual outdoor locations, TÖRZS have embraced environments that become part of the listening experience, creating music that feels spacious, reflective and naturally cinematic.
TÖRZS build their music around slow-burning arrangements, layered guitars and a strong sense of atmosphere. Their instrumental approach allows the music to develop without relying on vocals, with carefully controlled shifts between quieter passages and larger, more powerful crescendos.
The band's 2019 album Tükör was recorded live inside the Baradla Cave in the Aggtelek karst region, around 500 metres underground. The unusual surroundings gave the recordings a remarkable natural resonance, reinforcing the band's fascination with space, sound and environment.
Földön (2016) – An early EP that established the atmospheric and expansive character of TÖRZS, combining patient instrumental development with the band's growing sense of scale.
Tükör (2019) – A defining release recorded live inside the Baradla Cave, Hungary. The natural acoustics of the UNESCO World Heritage cave system became an important part of the album's immersive character.
Menedék (2025) – The band's latest full-length, released through Pelagic Records. Its five extended compositions continue the band's instrumental post-rock approach while exploring themes of refuge, comfort and connection.
TÖRZS have established themselves as an important name within Hungary's instrumental post-rock scene, with a style that places atmosphere and immersive listening ahead of conventional song structures. Their unusual recording locations have become an integral part of the band's artistic identity rather than simply a backdrop.
