Crystal Lake are a Japanese metalcore band formed in Tokyo in 2002. Widely regarded as one of the most influential heavy bands to emerge from Japan's modern metal scene, Crystal Lake have built an international reputation through their explosive blend of metalcore, hardcore punk, melodic death metal and progressive influences.
The band currently comprises guitarists Yudai Miyamoto and Hisatsugu Taji, bassist Mitsuru and drummer Gaku Taura, formerly of Nocturnal Bloodlust. Following the departure of Shinya Hori, Miyamoto remains the only member of Crystal Lake's original lineup.
Known for their relentless energy and technical precision, the band combine crushing breakdowns, aggressive vocals and intricate musicianship with memorable hooks and atmospheric elements. Their ability to balance heaviness with accessibility has helped them become a leading force within contemporary metalcore.
After forming in the early 2000s, Crystal Lake spent years developing their sound within Japan's underground heavy music scene.
